Thalassiphora maxima

From Fensome et al., 2019:
Thalassiphora? maxima Jain and Millepied, 1975, p.146, pl.4, figs.53–54.
Holotype: Jain and Millepied, 1975, pl.4, fig.54.
Originally Thalassiphora, subsequently (and now) Thalassiphora?, thirdly Disphaeria.
Lentin and Williams (1985, p.354) questionably retained the species in Thalassiphora. Questionable assignment: Stover and Evitt (1978, p.195).
Age: Campanian–Maastrichtian.

Original description: [Jain and Millepied, 1975]:

Thalassiphora maxima sp. nov. (Pl. 4, Figs. 53-54)
Holotype - Pl. 4, Fig. 54; Slide No. 8456-2.
Type locality - Bore hole no. CM-1; depth 1055.05 metres; Senegal Basin, W. Africa.
Horizon - Campanian-Maestrichtian.

Diagonosis - Capsule spherical, thick walled with ovoidal pylome; boundary wall thick, surrounded by an equatorially placed wide membraneous wing, double walled with radially arranged broad folds, spongeous, with slight perforations. No tabulation discernible.

Measurements
Shell size: holotype: 80 x 128 μm, range: 70-80 x 110-145 μm
Central body diameter: holotype: 80 μm, range: 70-80 μm
Flange width: holotype: 31.5 μm, range: 30-45 μm

Comparison - Thalassiphora maxima sp. nov. differs from other known specics of the genus in having large spɔngoous membrane with perforations. Thalassiphora delicala Williams & Downie (1966) resembles in having perforate ornamentation of periphragm but differs in its delicate membraneous flange with no radial foldings. The present specimens are also much bigger in size.
