Tectatodinium gochtii

Tectatodinium gochtii Dodekova, 1975

Now Chytroeisphaeridia. Originally Tectatodinium, subsequently Dodekovia, thirdly (and now) Chytroeisphaeridia.
Jansonius, 1986 transferred this species to Chytroeisphaeridia (Sarjeant, 1962) Downie and Sarjeant 1965; however, Stover and Williams, 1987 retained it in Tectatodinium. Lentin and Williams, 1989 agreed with Jansonius, 1986.

Holotype: Dodekova, 1975, pl.3, fig.10
Locus typicus: Gurkovo, NE Bulgaria
Stratum typicum: Late Bathonian

Original description: Dodekova, 1975, p. 31
Ovoidal dinoflagellate cyst. The wall is thick, two-layered. The inner layer is thin, the outer--thick (2.5 µm), with fibrous structure which can be established in optical section of the wall. Surface fine reticulate. On the apical end a thickening of the outer layer is found, which forms a strongly rounded, short apical horn. Furrows are not to be seen. The archaeopyle is precingular, one plate.

Affinities:
Dodekova, 1975, p. 31: The apical thickening and the pointing of the apex distinguish Tectatodinium gochtii from T. pellitum Wall 1967.
