Parvocysta cracens
Parvocysta? cracens Bjaerke, 1980, p.66, pl.4, fig.16; text-fig.3D. Emendation: Prauss, 1989, p.22, as Reutlingia cracens.
Now Reutlingia. Originally Parvocysta?, subsequently (and now) Reutlingia. Bjµrke, 1980 questionably included this species in Parvocysta.
Holotype: Bjµrke, 1980, pl.4, fig.16
Locus typicus: Knorringfjellet, Spitsbergen
Stratum typicum: Toarcian
Original diagnosis: Bjµrke, 1980, p. 66
Dinoflagellate cysts probably belonging to the genus Parvocysta. Outline basically elongated pentagonal but modified by one apical and two postcingular lateral horns, long and slender, approximately 24 to 28 µm long. Surface smooth. Paracingulum indicated by a shallow depression separating the cyst into an elongated epicyst and a short hypocyst.
Size: 55-73 µm long, main cyst (horns excluded) 28-40 µm long.
Original description: Bjµrke, 1980, p.66
Small dinoflagellate cysts with an elongated pentagonal outline modified by long, slender horns, one apical and two in a postcingular lateral position. Cyst wall single layered, smooth. Paratabulation except for archeopyle not observed. Archeopyle intercalary with anterior angulation, representing one intercalary paraplate. Archeopyle sutures towards precingular paraplates not observed. Paracingulum marked by a shallow depression.
Affinities:
Bjµrke, 1980, p. 66: Basic morphology of ? P. cracens closely similar to P. nasufa but differs from that species by the presence of prominent lateral postcingular horns. Difficulties in defining archeopyle outline make the reference to Parvocysta uncertain.
