Systematophora orbifera

Systematophora orbifera Klement, 1960

NOW Hystrichosphaerina?. Originally Systematophora, subsequently Hystrichosphaerina, thirdly (and now) Hystrichosphaerina?.
Stover and Evitt, 1978 transferred this species to Hystrichosphaerina Alberti, 1961; however, Brenner, 1988 and Stancliffe and Sarjeant, 1990 retained it in Systematophora. Questionable assignment: Courtinat in Fauconnier and Masure (2004, p.333–334).

Holotype: Klement, 1960, pl.9, fig.9; Stancliffe and Sarjeant, 1990, pl.5, fig.2
Paratypes: Klement, 1960
Locus typicus: Lõngental 2 Bore
Stratum typicum: Middle Oxfordian

Original diagnosis: Klement, 1960, p. 66
A species of the genus Systematophora with the, for the type species S. areolata characteristical, oriented arrangement and number of circular areas of the basal process connections. Shell spheroidal to squatly ellipsoidal. Circularly arranged processes numerous and closely spaced, relatively long, fibrous to firm, often bent in a wavy fashion, distally fused into a characteristically tire shape.
Dimensions: Holotype: shell including processes l:b 100:100 µm, shell without processes l:b 60:58 µm, process length 28 µm.

Affinities: Klement, 1960, p.67
This species is unambiguously distinguished from from the related S. fasciculigera, by the pronounced spheroidal appearance of the shell, as opposed to the elongate oval outline of the latter species, and by the characteristical, tire-shaped distal coalescence of its processes.
