Sverdrupiella baccata
Sverdrupiella baccata Bujak and Fisher, 1976
Holotype: Bujak and Fisher, 1976, pl.1, fig.5-6; text-fig.2B
Locus typicus: Hecla J-60, cuttings 3680; Queen Elizabeth Islands, arctic Canada Stratum typicum: Norian
Original diagnosis: Bujak and Fisher, 1976, p.48
Cavate to bicavate cysts, capsule ovoidal to rhomboidal. Periphragm longer than broad and typically flattened dorsoventrally, forming broadly conical epitract terminating in apical horn and longer, acutely conical to subconical hypotract. Hypotractal outline possibly modified by presence of a second, strongly reduced antapical horn. Cingulum circular or slightly helicoid, defined by two crests bearing verrucae or irregular spines. Sulcus delimited along each hypotractal margin by crest or row of proximally united spines or verrucae. Sulcus defined on epitract by two closely spaced rows of verrucae or rounded spines lying within furrow delimited by two folds in periphragm. Remainder of periphragm surface sometimes sparsely spinose or verrucose. Mode of archeopyle formation problematic.
Dimensions: Holotype, periphragm length 112 µm, periphragm breadth 78 µm, capsule length 50 µm, capsule breadth 53 µm. Observed range, periphragm length 79-112 µm, periphragm breadth 69-82 µm, capsule length 41-50 µm, capsule breadth 42-59 µm.
