Rhaetogonyaulax testacea Fisher and Van Helden, 1979

Tax. jr. synonym of Rhaetogonyaulax rhaetica (Sarjeant, 1963) Loeblich Jr. and Loeblich III., 1968, according to Below, 1987.

Locus typicus: Ellef Ringnes Island, Canadian Arctic Archipelago
Stratum typicum: Middle Norian-Rhaetian

Same as for the genus with the following additional description: the cyst wall is dominantly reticulate, without further ornamentation. Archaeopyle formation is by the loss of A4 " + 5I (Text-Figure 3A) and with the paraplates la and/or 5a sometimes loosely attached to the precingular series. Epicystal paratabulation is 1(?2) pr, 6", 5a, 7".
Dimensions: Holotype: length 71µm, width 51µm.
Paratypes: (10 specimens measured) length 71-74µm, width 47-52µm.

Affinities:
Fisher and Van Helden, 1979, p. 267: R. testacea differs from R. rhaetica and from R. rhaetica chaloneri (Sarjeant) Lentin and Williams, in possessing an apparently different mode of archaeopyle formation of a type A4 " + 5I, whereas R. rhaetica and R. rhaetica chaloneri possess an archaeopyle with an undivided operculum (6A5I).
