Pyxidiella tumida Stover and Helby, 1987

Holotype: Stover and Helby, 1987, fig.9A-E
Locus typicus: Abrolhos Subbasin, SW Australia
Stratum typicum: Barremian-Early Aptian

Original description: Stover and Helby, 1987, p.271
Cysts proximate, elongate ellipsoidal; composed of a thin (1 µm or less), continuous, apparently untextured layer bearing verrucae, and occasionally, granules. Verrucae circular, elliptical, polygonal and irregularly shaped in outline, closely spaced, 2.5-4.5 µm in diameter or greatest width, 2 to slightly greater than 3 µm in height, and distally convex to nearly flat. Adjacent verrucae may coalesce to form discontinuous ridges up to 8 µm in length. Granules smaller, much less numerous than the verrucae, and may be absent on some specimens. Archeopyle intercalary, type I (2a hexa-style); operculum free. Indications of paratabulation, other than the archeopyle, lacking. Specimens 41 (45) 49 µm long, 18 (23) 27 µm wide; 17 specimens measured.

Affinities:
Stover and Helby, 1987, p.271: Pyxidiella tumida differs from P. pandora Cookson and Eisenack 1958 in being verrucate and specimens of P. tumida tend to be narrower than those of P. pandora.
