Gerdiocysta cassiculus
Geriducysta cassiculus (Drugg, 1970) Liengjarern et al., 1980
Originally Areoligera, subsequently (and now) Gerdiocysta.
Holotype: Drugg, 1970, fig.3A
Locus typicus: Dale County, Alabama, USA
Stratum typicum: Early Eocene
Original description: Drugg, 1970, p. 811: Areoligera cassiculus
Tract flattened dorso-ventrally, wall smooth to finely granulate. Most specimens have two antapical lobes but a few specimens exhibit a broadly rounded antapical outline. The archeopyle is apical and tetratabular. The ornamentation consists of soleate to annular complexes of intratabular processes delineating the normal tabulation for the genus. On some specimens the tabulation is obscure due to the nature of the ornamentation. The distal ends of the processes are connected by trabeculae to form a lace-like pattern. On many specimens the interconnections become so broad and flattened that they form areas that are comparable to an outer perforate wall. The tract diameter ranges from 84-100 µm, excluding the processes.
