Pterodinium cingulatum ssp. ovale (Cookson and Eisenack, 1974) Lentin and Williams, 1981
Originally Spiniferites cingulatus var. ovalis, subsequently Spiniferites cingulatus ssp. ovalis, thirdly Spiniferites? cingulatus ssp. ovalis, fourthly (and now) Pterodinium cingulatum ssp. ovale.

Age: Paleocene
Original diagnosis: Cookson and Eisenack, 1974, p. 64: Spiniferites cingulatus var. ovalis
Shell oval, fairly thick-walled, coarsely punctate. Lists very low, of a maximum height of about 5 µm, in part, fairly thick. Longitudinal furrow slanted, becoming broader in downward direction. Girdle helicoidal, ventrally its extremities are displace by more than one furrow-width. Dimensions: shell 58 x 50 µm, overall about 65 x 57 µm. One specimen.
Occurrence: Rivernook Bed, Victoria; Paleocene.

The form figured by Rossignol agrees in form, size and height of the lists with our form, however, more detailed distinguishing marks are missing, so that an identification is not possible. The Sp. cingulatus var. ovalis differs from the Sp. c. var. cingulatus Clark & Verdier 1967 through the pronounced oval shape, the many low lists and the punctate aspect of the surface.
