Pterodinium reticulatum
From Fensome et al., 2019:
Pterodinium? reticulatum Singh, 1971, p.358–359, pl.60, figs.6–7. Holotype: Singh, 1971, pl.60, figs.6–7; Jan du Chêne et al., 1986a, pl.90, figs.4–5. Originally Pterodinium, subsequently (and now) Pterodinium?. Questionable assignment: Stover and Evitt (1978, p.183). Age: middle Albian.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Locus typicus: Peace River area, Canada
Stratum typicum: Middle Albian
Original description: Singh, 1971, p. 358
Test dorsoventrally oriented; body oval, tabulate, with wing-like, up to 16 µm high sutural crests; crests membraneous, coarsely serrate, with 3-to 4 µm high spines at the points of junction; tabulation not clear; a large antapical plate (1'''') clearly outlined; cingulum laevo-rotatory, bordered by low crests; sulcus present on ventral hypotract and epitract; archeopyle precingular, quadrangular in outline, and formed by the loss of plate 3''; body finely reticulate with thin muri and 0.5 to 1.5 µm wide lumina; body wall about 1 µm thick.
Size range: Total length of the test, including the crests (4 specimens) 92(100)105 µm. Holotype 105 µm. Total breadth of the test, including the crests (4 specimens) 70(78)88 µm. Holotype 88 µm. Length of the body (4 specimens) 70(73)76 µm. Holotype 76 µm. Breadth of the body (4 specimens) 63(67)70 µm. Holotype 70 µm.
Affinities:
Singh, 1971, p. 358-359: Pterodinium reticulatum can be easily distinguished from Pterodinium magnoserratum Cookson and Eisenack, 1962, which has a smooth body and bifurcate projections at the points of junction of the crests.
