Originally Spiniferites cornutus var. crassifurcatus, subsequently Spiniferites cornutus ssp. crassifurcatus.
Tax. jr. synonym of Spiniferites cornutus ssp. Iaevimurus (Davey and Williams, 1966) Lentin and Williams, 1973, according to Below, 1982.

Original diagnosis: Cookson and Eisenack, 1974, p.63: Spiniferites cornutus var. crassifurcatus
Shell oval, with relatively short, but sturdy processes, which distally generally bear 3 well developed furcation-branches These can possess minute secondary furcation-prongs. The processes are especially developed in the apical-, girdle-, and antapical-area thus mainly gonally; however, also sutural processes occur. The spanning-membranes are distinct and pull themselves upward onto the processes. The apex bears a slender horn which is mounted with a broad basis and distally bears minute prongs which are just about still discernible.
Dimensions: Central shell about 70 x 58 µm, overall about 110 x 76 µm; processes up to 20 µm long, horn about 20 µm high, spanning membranes about 3 µm wide.
Occurrence: Balcatta No. 1 bore, at 170 ft.
