Spiniferites ovatus*
Spiniferies ovatus Bujak, 1984
Name illegitimate — senior homonym: Spiniferites ovatus Matsuoka, 1983b.
Taxonomic senior synonym: Spiniferites hexatypicus, according to Bujak and Matsuoka (1986, p.239).
Holotype:Bujak 1984, pl.3, fig.18
Locus typicus: Bering Sea
Stratum typicum: Late Miocene-Early Pliocene
Original diagnosis: Bujak, 1984, p. 192
Central body double-walled, ovoidal to ellipsoidal, longer than broad with granulate periphragm and processes. Processes short, mostly gonal, sometimes with a few sutural processes present. Short trifurcations and bifurcations usually present on gonal and sutural processes, respectively, but occasionally absent. Tabulation clearly delineated by sutures: spiniferitoid with strongly helicoid cingulum and narrow, shallow sulcus without delineation of individual sulcal plates. Archeopyle precingular, formed by loss of plate 3"".
Dimensions: Central body length 53 to 75 µm, breadth 37 to 55 µm; maximum process length 6.5 to 11µm; 10 specimens measured.
