Crussolia deflandrei
Crussolia deflandrei Wolfard and van Erve, 1981
Evansia. Originally Crussolia, subsequently (and now) Evansia.
Holotype: Wolfard and van Erve, 1981, pl.1, figs.1-2; Fensome et al., 1993, p.1103, figs.1-2
Paratypes: Wolfard and van Erve, 1981
Locus typicus: Montagne Crussol, Rhone Valley, France
Stratum typicum: Callovian-Early Oxfordian
Original diagnosis: Wolfard and van Erve, 1981, p.326
Proximate cysts, subcircular to ellipsoidal, with an apical horn; antapex rounded. Cyst wall double-layered. The cysts are circumcavate. Reflected paratabulation other than archeopyle usually not indicated. Both endophragm and periphragm possessing an apical horn. Archeopyle intercalary, type 3I or 5I. Periphragm smooth, endophragm finely granulate. Small apicular structures sometimes present.
Original description: Wolfard and van Erve, 1981, p.326
The cysts are proximate, with endophrag,m and periphragm separated. Outline of endophragm and periphragm is subspherical to ellipsoidal, with an apical horn; antapex is rounded. The periphragm of the horn is distally thickened and sometimes bears a short, thick spine. The periphragm is smooth, the endophragm is finely granulate. The paratabulation is indicated by the archeopyle, and sometimes by the paracingulum. The archeopyle is intercalary and variable in this species. Some specimens (compare, e.g., slide Cru 10-49 and slide Cru 12-90) have a 5I archeopyle, and another specimen (slide Cru 10-04) has a 3I archeopyle. In one of the specimens with a 5I archeopyle (slide Cru 10-49) three of the five opercular paraplates are Iying inside the cyst (see [Wolfard and van Erve, 1981] Fig.3 and Plate II, 2).
Size: Holotype: length 66 Ám, breadth 42 Ám, length of apical horn 7 Ám. Range: length 60-66 Ám, breadth 40-45 Ám, length of apical horn 6-9 Ám.
