Dorocysta litotes
Dorocysta litotes Davey, 1970
Holotype: Davey 1970, pl. 5, fig.6, text-fig.2A
Locus typicus: Escalles, France
Stratum typicum: Cenomanian
Original diagnosis: Davey, 1970, p. 358
Shell wall smooth or lightly granular. Four anterior and four or five posterior processes, forked medially, occasionally terminating in small bifurcation. Cingulum commonly present and occasionally one or two precingular and postcingular plate boundaries. Angular apical archaeopyle typically present.
Dimensions: holotype: shell length 25 Ám, width 23 Ám, length of processes 9 Ám, number of processes 9. Range: shell length 19(22.7)26 Ám, width 13(18.2)23 Ám. Maximum length of processes 8(13.0)17 Ám
Original description: Davey, 1970, p.358
The anterior face of the shell is rectangular, with a process arising from each corner. In the centre of this face there is a small angular archaeopyle, perhaps formed by the loss of a single apical plate. At the posterior end of the shell there are 4, or more usually 5, processes arranged around the broad base. The cingular and plate boundaries are delimited by low thickenings of the periphragm.
The cingulum usually possesses a normal circular perforation (1-2 Ám wide) in the centre of one surface.
