Rhynchodiniopsis cladophora ssp. isovalvata (Klement, 1960) Below, 1981

Originally Gonyaulax cladophora ssp. isovalvata, subsequently Gonyaulacysta cladophora ssp. isovalvata, thirdly Hystrichogonyaulax cladophora ssp. isovalvata, fourthly (and now) Rhynchodiniopsis cladophora ssp. isovalvata. Brenner, 1988 stated that Rhynchodiniopsis cladophora ssp. isovalvata is a jr. synonym of Rhynchodiniopsis cladophora (Deflandre, 1938) Below, 1981. Lentin and Williams, 1993, presumed that he intended to imply that the subspecies is a tax. jr. synonym of the autonym Rhynchodiniopsis cladophora ssp. cladophora. However, pending clarification of this point, they retained the subspecies Rhynchodiniopsis cladophora ssp. isovalvata as a separate taxon. Lentin and Williams, 1981 retained this taxon in Hystrichogonyaulax Sarjeant, 1969, as Hystrichogonyaulax cladophora ssp. isovalvata (Klement, 1960) Stover and Evitt, 1978; however, Jan du Chêne et al., 1986 agreed with Below, 1981 and retained the taxon as Rhynchodiniopsis cladophora ssp. isovalvata.
