Gillinia hymenophora Cookson and Eisenack, 1960a, has prominent pericoels developed over areas of local extent. The endocyst is smooth, the pericyst is raised into low ridges, which outline complete or incomplete fields and the two small membranous structures. Archeopyle assumed to be apical. Size: length 25-51 µm, width 23-33 µm.

Original description: Cookson and Eisenack, 1960, p.12
Shell somewhat flat, circular to oval in outline; shell-membrane two-layered, inner layer smooth, about 1Á thick, outer layer transpartent, raised into low ridges which outline comlete or incomplete fields, the long axis of which lie parallel to the length of the shell, and two small, sphaerical or low funnel-shaped membranuous structure on either side of the anterior surface. The latter structures are variously connected tangentially, either by fibrous stands or by reticulate membranes; it is possible that they open distally, but this point has not been satisfactorily determined.
Dimensions: Holotype: 38 µm long; 33 µm broad. Range: 25-51 µm long; 23-33 µm broad.
