Pseudoceratium spitiense
From Fensome et al., 2019:
Pseudoceratium spitiense Jain and Garg in Jain et al., 1984, p.72, pl.3, figs.41–42. Holotype: Jain et al., 1984, pl.3, fig.42; Fensome et al., 2019a, fig.19P. Age: Kimmeridgian–early Tithonian.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original diagnosis: Jain and Garg, 1984, p.72
Cyst ceratoid with an apical and antapical horn, the third post cingular horn indistinct, shape of cyst and position of antapical horn suggest position of post-cingular horn; autophragm only; paracingulum distinct in the middle. Archaeopyle apical (tA), suture zig-zag.
Dimensions: Holotype Range
Overall cyst size 114 X 70 µm 110-114 x 70-85 µm
Length of apical horn 30 µm up to 30 µm
Length of antapical horn 14 µm14-20 µm
Affinities:
Jain and Garg, 1984, p.72: P. spitiensis Jain and Garg differs from other species of the genus in not having a distinct third postcingular horn.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Comments Fensome et al., 2019a:
The two specimens illustrated in the protologue appear to have an irregulary reticulate ornament, although this may reflect corrosion rather than original morphology.
Stratigraphical occurrence. Jain & Garg in Jain et al. (1984) described Pseudoceratium spitiense from the Kimmeridgian to lower Tithonian of the Malla Johar area, India.
