Cyclapophysis monmouthensis Benson, 1976, is considered by Sarjeant to be a taxonomic junior synonym of Disphaerogena carposphaeropsis. Apical usually longer than antapical protuberance. Outer wall surface is microreticulate. Size: body length 74-97 µm, width 58-71 µm. Equatorial process length 24-40 µm. Equatorial width with processes 106-150 µm.

As for genus with following additions: Apical protuberance generally longer than antapical, the ratio being as great as 3:1 and as small as 1.2:1. Cyst wall thick, its outer surface appearing microreticulate. Cyst wall bi-layered, the internal layer accounting for approximately 90% of its thickness. The outer microreticulate layer forms the procces bases.
