Prolixosphaeridium xanthiopyxides
Prolixosphaeridium? xanthiopyxides (O. Wetzel, 1933) Davey et al., 1969; Emendations: Morgenroth, 1968, p.556, as Hystrichosphaeridium? xanthiopyxides; Sarjeant, 1985b, p.142–144, as Tanyosphaeridium xanthiopyxides.
Now Tanyosphaeridium. Originally Hystrichosphaera, subsequently Hystrichosphaeridium, thirdly Hystrichosphaeridium?, fourthly Baltisphaeridium (an acritarch genus), fifthly Prolixosphaeridium?, sixthly (and now) Tanyosphaeridium.
Taxonomic junior synonym: Hystrichosphaeridium (as Tanyosphaeridium) magdalium, according to Stover and Evitt (1978, p.85).
At the time of the transfer, Davey et al., 1969 questionably included this species in Prolixosphaeridium. This combination was not validly published in Davey et al., 1966, since these authors did not fully reference the basionym.
