Polysphaeridium follium
Polysphaeridium? follium (Tasch, 1964) Davey and Williams, 1969
Originally Hystrichosphaeridium, subsequently Polysphaeridium?.
Tax. jr. synonym of Kiokansium unituberculatum (Tasch, 1964) Stover and Evitt, 1978, according to Stover and Evitt, 1978. At the time of the transfer, Davey and Williams, 1969 questionably included this species in Polysphaeridium. This
combination was not validly published in Davey and Williams, 1966, since these authors did not fully reference the basionym. Davey and Williams, 1966 questionably included the species in Polysphaeridium.
Holotype: Tasch, 1964, pl.1, fig.8
Locus typicus: Clark County, Kansas, USA
Stratum typicum: Albian
Original diagnosis: Tasch, 1964, p.195: Hystrichosphaeridium follium
Ball shaped capsule with long, slender, tubular processes that are generally bifurcate at terminations.
Dimensions: Holotype: diameter (maximum) 48 µm; length of processes 12-16 µm; thickness of processes 1-2 µm; density of processes 1 + per 5 µm of edge.
