Polysphaeridium tribrachiosum
Polysphaeridium? tribrachiosum (Tasch, 1964) Davey and Williams, 1969
Originally Hystrichosphaeridium, subsequently Polysphaeridium?. At the time of the transfer, Davey and Williams, 1969 questionably included this species in Polysphaeridium.
Taxonomic senior synonym: Hystrichosphaeridium (as and now Kiokansium) unituberculatum, according to Stover and Evitt (1978, p.76).
This combination was not validly published in Davey and Williams (1966b, p.95), since these authors did not fully reference the basionym.
Holotype: Tasch, 1964, pl.1, fig.3
Age: Albian
Original description (Tasch et al., 1964):
Hystrichosphaeridium tribrachiosum Tasch, new species (Plate 1, figure 3)
Diagnosis: Subovate capsule characterized by triads of thin, tubular processes, flat-ended or bifurcate at terminations.
Measurements: Length, 50 µm; width 44 µm; length of processes, 8-10 µm; thickness of processes, 1-2 µm; density of processes, 1 per 5 µm of edge.
Holotype: WU-DF 0117. Slide no. 1016. Coordinates: R 59, D 8+.
Locality: sampling interval 4-1-H.
