Shell oval to almost circular in outline with apical and antapical horns, an equatorial girdle and large archeopyle. Shell wall 2-layered, the outer layer varying both in extent and structure, being either shortly fibrillose with + well-developed tuft-like prominences, especially on either side of the apical and antapical horns and lateral limits of the girdle (Pl. 17, fig. 8), or in the form of lace-like expansions of varying widths (Pl. 17 fig. 10). The apical horn narrows distally to a blunt tip; the antapical horn, which is longer, is usually straight-sided with a blunt tip.
Dimensions: Holotype--overall length c. 117 Ám, overall width c. 100 Ám; shell c. 68 x 72 Ám. Range--overall length c. 100-108 Ám, overall width c. 62-72 Ám; antapical horn c. 22 Ám.
