Pareodinia alaskensis Wiggins, 1975

Now Evansia. Originally Pareodinia, subsequently (and now) Euansia; see also Glomodinium (combination not validly published).
Tax. sr. synonym of Pareodinia minuta Wiggins, 1975, according to Below, 1990. Tax. sr. synonym of Pareodinia robusta Wiggins, 1975, according to Below, 1990. Below, 1990 suggested that Pareodinia arctica Wiggins, 1975, may be a smooth variant of this species.

Locus typicus: Staniukovich Formation, sec. 7, T. 26 S., R. 36 W., Karluk D-4 Quadrangle, on the Alaska Peninsula

Original diagnosis: Wiggins, 1975, p. 104
Proximate fossil cysts, ambitus ovoidal. Epitract and hypotract approximately equal, divided by a faint to moderately distinct girdle. Cyst exhibits a distinct apical horn and a broadly rounded antapex. Reflected tabulation faint, but noted occasionally on the epitract and hypotract. Archeopyle intercalary, Type 3I, and operculum composed of 3 nearly equal sized plates. Cyst wall coarsely granulate to verrucose, and ornamentation equally distributed over entire wall surface. Apicular structure present in the form of a short, rod-like, finely granulose thickening.

Holotype, 45 x 78 µm, paratype 44 x 90 µm.

Affinities:
Wiggins, 1975, p. 104: This species resembles Pareodinia kondratjevi, but the cyst wall of P. alalkensis is noticeably thicker and its apical morphology is different.
