Pareodinia angulata
Pareodinia ?angulata Kumar, 1987a, p.242–243, pl.1, figs.3,6,9; text-fig.5. Holotype: Kumar, 1987a, pl.1, fig.3. Originally Pareodinia, subsequently (and now) Pareodinia?. Questionable assignment: Below (1990, p.65) as a "nomen dubium". Age: Kimmeridgian–Tithonian.
Original description (Kumar, 1987):
Diagnosis:
Proximate cyst ovoidal, elongated with a short apical horn and generally enclosed in Kalyptra. Archaeopoly is intercalary type 31. No other paratabulation features present. Autophragm psilate of scabrate.
Description:
These are promixate cysts, ovoidal or elongated. A short and blunt apical horn is present and antapex is rounded. The cysts are generally enclosed in Kalyptra. Paratabulation features: only indicated by archaeopyle type and only faintly marked paracingulum in only few specimens.
Archaeopyle: intercalary type 3I (text figure 6).
Autophragm: psilate or scabrate and size is small to intermediate.
Dimension (Based on eight specimens):
Cyst length = 45.0-68.0 μm; Cyst width = 32.0-42.0 μm.
Affinities/Comparison:
Pareodinia angulata sp. nov. resembles Pareodinia arctica Wiggins 1975, but differs in having a 3I archaeopyle rather than intercalary, type I, and being smaller in size.
