Pareodinia arctica
Pareodinia arctica Wiggins, 1975
Below, 1990 suggested that this species may be a smooth variant of Glomodinium (now Evansia) alaskense (Wiggins, 1975) Below, 1990.
Holotype: Wiggins, 1975, pl.2, fig.1
Paratypes: Wiggins, 1975
Locus typicus: Ipewik Group, Kukpowruk River, sec. 25, T. 8 S., R. 48 W., DeLong Quadrangle, arctic North Slope, Alaska
Stratum typicum: Late Jurassic, probably Tithonian
Original diagnosis: Wiggins, 1975, p. 103
Proximate fossil cysts, ambitus distinctly ovoidal. Epitract and hypotract approximately equal, divided by a faint to moderately distinct girdle. Apical horn present, but variable in length, and antapex broadly rounded. Reflected tabulation, other than girdle and archeopyle, generally not evident. Archeopyle intercalary and Type 1. Cyst wall generally smooth. Small apicular structures sometimes present.
Dimensions:
Holotype, 50 x 90 µm, paratypes average 45 x 88.5 µm.
Affinities:
Wiggins, 1975, p. 103: This species is normally recognizable by its elongate cyst outline and single plate intercalary archeopyle.
