Pareodinia barentsensis (Smelror, 1988a, p.296, pl.3, figs.4–5; text-fig.11) Below, 1990, p.72.

Holotype: Smelror, 1988a, pl.3, fig.5. Originally Pareodinia, subsequently (and now) Evansia.
Age: early Callovian–early Oxfordian.
Type stratum and locality: Kong Karls Land, Hårfagrehaugen section

Original description (Smelror, 1988a):

Description:
Dinoflagellate cysts, characteristically pareodinioid ovoidal to ellipsoidal in outline, with a broadly rounded antapex and apex drawn out into a distinct horn.
Cyst wall: single layered, with verrucate ornament grouped in characteristic fields or appearing more randomly spaced on the otherwise smooth autophragm.
Paracingulum: expressed as a distinct transverse band lacking ornamentation.
Parasulcus: In the examined material, no similar evidence of the parasulcus was observed.
Archaeopyle: intercalary, type 3I, the first and third lateral opercular paraplates are nearly equal in size, the second, central, paraplate is somewhat larger.

Dimensions:
Length (including apical horn) 49-55 µm, width 39-46 µm, (11 specimens measured)
Holotype: Length 54 µm, width 42 µm.

Remarks:
Pareodinia barentsensis n. sp. differs from Pareodinia wigginsii n. sp, and Pareodinia sp. C of Wiggins (1975, pl.2, fig.12) in having ornament grouped in characteristic fields and a clearly expressed paracingulum.
