Parabohaidina shangsica
Parabohaidina shangsica He Chengquan, 1984
Holotype: He Chengquan, 1984, pl.1, fig.1
Age: Oligocene
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description: [He Chengquan, 194b] (translated from Chinese with Google):
Parabohaidina shangsica (sp. nov.)
(Plate 1. Figures 1-3)
Description: The shell is flat, with a nearly diamond-shaped outline and nearly straight sides. Its length and width are approximately equal, with the sides often being wider and rounder at the equatorial region. It has one or two transverse folds, perhaps reflecting a girdle. The shell wall is approximately 1 micron thick, with two or unclear layers. The surface is granular, with more developed granules in the middle of the shell, or connected to form wrinkles. The palate is archaeostometic, with a nearly straight or subangular outline on the dorsal surface and a V-shaped fissure at each end on the ventral surface. The palate is often joined. It may also contain a nucleus.
The shell is 50-64 μm long and 52-64 μm wide; the holotype is 64 μm long and 64 μm wide.
Discussion The ornamentation of this new species is similar to that of Parabohaidina granulata Jiabo, but the palaeostoma is much larger than that of the latter.
Origin: Shangsi, Guangxi; the first and second sections of the Yongning Group.
