Palaeostomocystis granulosa

Palaeostomocystis granulosa Cookson and Eisenack, 1974

Now Batiacasphaera. Originally Palaeostomocystis, subsequently Fromea, thirdly (and now) Batiacasphaera.
Holotype: Cookson and Eisenack, 1974, pl.28, fig.10
Age: Albian-Cenomanian

Original diagnosis: Cookson and Eisenack, 1974, p.79
Shell elongated-oval, densely covered with minute, grana-like protuberances. Opening of shell through lifting-off of a small apical calotte.
Dimensions: about 45 x 31 Ám.
Occurrence: Balcatta No. 1 bore, at 170 ft.

Remarks: Cookson and Eisenack, 1974, p.79
The difference with respect to the similar P. scrobiculata lies in the considerably smaller size, in the slightly smaller breadth/length-ratio and in the different ornamentation. In the case of the P. granulosa one is dealing with minute tubercles, whereas the P. scrobiculata possesses small verrucae-like protuberances.
