Palaeostomocystis scrobiculata (Deflandre and Cookson, 1955) Eisenack et al., 1973
Now Pyxidiella?. Originally Leiosphaera (an acritarch genus) subsequently (and now) Pyxidiella?, thirdly Leiosphaeridia (an acritarch genus), fourthly Palaeostomocystis, fifthly Batiacasphaera. Cookson and Eisenack, 1974 also
effected this combination.

Original description: Deflandre and Cookson, 1955, p.291: Leiosphaera scrobicualta
Shell ovoidal to ellipsoidal, generally with an irregular polygonal opening at the narrower end, the cover of which is sometimes in position. Wall of shell about 3-5Á thick, finely punctate, and closely dotted with irregular scrobiculi.
Dimensions: Cretaceous specimens: 61-94Á long, 48072Á broad. Tertiary specimens: 38-54Á long, 31-41Á broad.
