Palaeocystodinium granulatum (Wilson, 1967) Lentin and Williams, 1976

Originally Sualbardella, subsequently (and now) Palaeocystodinium
Holotype: Wilson, 1967, fig.9
Locus typicus: Garden Cove Mudstone at Head of Perseverance Harbour, Campbell Island
Age: Maastrichtian (see Wilson, 1972).

Original diagnosis: Wilson, 1967, p.226: Svalbardella granulata
Shell large, elongate, comprising densely granular outer cyst and smooth oval inner cyst. Long narrow pointed apical and antapical horns of approximately equal size (l = 80-100 µm). Archeopyle relatively small, intercalary, polygonal, situated on dorsal epitheca. Opening of outer cyst larger than that of inner cyst. No trace of transverse girdle or longitudinal furrow.
Dimensions: l (approx.) = 250 µm, b = 55 µm, inner cyst 80 x 47 µm. Range l (approx.) = 200-300 µm, b = 47 (54) 57 µm, inner cyst: l = 85 (99) 116 µm, b = 44 (47) 50 µm.
