Stover and Evitt, 1978, retained this species in Craspedodinium Cookson and Eisenack, 1974.
At the time of the transfer, Lentin and Williams, 1976, questionably included this species in Ovoidinium.

A Craspedodinium-species, the length/breadth-ratio is slightly variable (L : B = 1.06-1.36 : 1), and the periphragm of which extends with smooth margins distinctly beyond the boundary of the endophragm. The mesh-like ornamentation is conditioned through locale thickenings of the external envelope; it is generally solely developed marginally and is variable both in mesh-width as well as also in expansion. Only on rare occasions is the external envelop perforated marginally. The separation of the apical calotte takes place along a smooth, but irregularly extending separation-line.
Number of available specimens and dimensions: 5 complete specimens and 8 other ones, the apical portions of which are missing. Type: about 103 x 96 Ám, the lengths of the complete specimens lie between 86 and 104 Ám, the breadths between 66 and 96 Ám.
Occurrence: Power House bore, at 640 ft.

The external envelope projected apparently also on the front and back-side beyond the internal body; it is always creased into large folds.
