Hystrichogonyaulax cladophora ssp. hemipolyedrica (Klement, 1960) Stover and Evitt, 1978

Now Rhynchodiniopsis cladophora sp. hemipolyedrica. Originally Gonyaulax cladophora ssp. hemipolyedrica, subsequently Gonyaulacysta cladophora ssp. hemipolyedrica, thirdly Hystrichogonyaulax cladophora ssp. hemipolyedrica, fourthly (and now) Rhynchodiniopsis cladophora ssp. hemipolyedrica. Brenner, 1988, stated that Hystrichogonyaulax (as Rhynchodiniopsis) cladophora ssp. hemipolyedrica is a jr. synonym of Hystrichogonyaulax (as Rhynchodiniopsis) cladophora (Deflandre, 1938) Stover and Evitt, 1978. Lentin and Williams, 1993, presumed that he intended to imply that the subspecies is a tax. jr. synonym of the autonym Hystrichogonyaulax (as Rhynchodiniopsis) cladophora ssp. cladophora. However, pending clarification of this point, they retain the subspecies Hystrichogonyaulax (as Rhynchodiniopsis) cladophora ssp. hemipolyedrica as a separate taxon.
