Description: The cyst is small, dumbbell-shaped or horologinella shape, with roughly equal but opposite direction two concave edge, concave shallow and parabolic, the other 2 edges are more or less convex. 4 corners are roughly round, each corner with a weak hairy thorn, about 2. 5μm, and sometimes corner thorns may fold up. Wall thin, smooth surface. On a convex edge, it may show the double outline, which may be related to the apical archeopyle.
Cyst length 13 to 18.5μm, width (not including thorns) 12. 5-16 μm (measured 2 tablets); holotype length 18. 5μm, width (excluding thorns) 16μm, thorn length about 2.5μm.
Comparison: The new species differs from Horologinella incurvata, H.? spinosa in possessing four corners are more round, concave side shallow, with a hairy thorn in each corner.
