Occisucysta brixii
Occisucysta brixii Below, 1982
Holotype: Below, 1982, pl.2, figs.13a-b: Jan du Chêne et al., 1986(a), pl.116, figs. 1-2 and Jan du Chêne et al., 1986(b), pl.13, figs.1-4
Now Tehamadinium. Originally Occisucysta, subsequently (and now) Tehamadinium.
Below, 1982, gave the citation "Occisucysta brixii brixii n.sp." but did not name any varietas of Occisucysta brixii.
Holotype: Below 1982, pl.2, fig. 13, Jan du Chêne et al., 1986, pl.116, figs.1-2 and Jan du Chêne et al., 1986, pl.13, figs.1-4
Paratypes: Below, 1982
Locus typicus: Ait Hamouch village, near Agadir, Morocco
Stratum typicum: Valanginian
Original diagnosis: Below, 1982, p.30
Small, proximate, sphaeroidal, ? two-layered cyst. Autophragm smooth or scarred. Gonyaulacean paratabulation 4", 6"", 6c, as, ra, ls rs, ps, 6""", pv, 1"""". Parasutural ribs and intratabular pseudosutural ribs perforated, forming a row of arches. Archeopyle 2P[2""-3""].
Original description: Below, 1982, p.30, 32
Ambitus: The small cyst has a generally sphaeroidal, oval to sometimes weakly five-sided ambitus. A significant short hom is abruptly set upon the apical pole. It is usually formed by the junction of parasutural septa about a narrow endophragmal apical bump; the latter, however is not always present.
Phragm: The endophragm is smooth inside ([Below, 1982] pl. 3, fig. 10). The periphragm is smooth or scarred ([Below, 1982] pl. 3, fig. 11) and in latter case appears spotted in transmitted light. Sometimes a low, irregular reticulum formed by very low but broad muri can be seen. This structure is considered to be a much suppressed remnant of a fibrous periphragm that we can also see on Occisucysta evittii (Dodekova 1969) Gitmez 1970 (p. 33). A remnant of such fibrous structure can also be observed at the basis of parasutural septa of this Occisucysta brixii ....
Parasutural septa: The parasutural septa are perforated and generally have smooth, straight, wavy or indented distal edges. Where the perforations are large, a row of arches develops ([Below, 1982] pl. 3, figs. 12, 13).
Paratabulation: A gonyaulacean tabulation 4", 6", 6c, ra, rs, ls, ps, 6""", pv, 1"""" is defined, as shown on [Below, 1982] text-fig. 5. The apical series comprises a small, long 1", pentagonal 2" and 3" and a rhomboidal 4", which fills the marchant angle between 5" and 6n. The precingular series are all trapezoidal or pentagonal and of equal size, except for the smaller 6". The equatorially located paracingulum is offset by its own width at the sulcus. The postcingular series comprises a small, nearly rectangular 1""" that is weakly delineated from the parasulcus, an equilaterally triangular 2n" and trapezoidal 3""", 4""", 5""" and a slightly smaller 6""". Paraplate 4""" is situated mid-dorsally. The pv plate is elongate and polygonal. The parasulcus is not well subdivided, but faint lines suggest the parasutural plate configuration shown on [Below, 1982] text-fig. 5a. The large trapezoidal 1"""" is slightly indented at the parasulcus.
Pseudosutural intratabular septa: The intratabular pseudosutural septa are morphologically identical to the parasutural ribs. They are distributed as shown on [Below, 1982] text-fig. 5. Pseudosutural intratabular septa are absent from paraplates 1" and 2". Within 3" sometimes a short rib occurs that begins at the parasuture 3"/4". The fourth apical plate is subdivided in some rare cases by a pseudosuture in the posterior third. This rib can be interrupted in the centre of 4". A sinuous pseudosuture within 1" extends from the paracingulum to the parasuture 1"/2". Sometimes a branch of this intratabular septum refers to paraplate 2"". No information is available concerning the pseudosutures on 2"" and 3" because these paraplates are removed on all specimens that were examined as opercular plates of the 2P[2""-3""]. archeopyle. In the anterior third of 4" a rib between parasutures 3"/4" and 4"/5" is developed. Near the boundary against paraplate 5" a sidebranch extends to the paracingulum. On 5" the pseudosuture is horseshoe-shaped and refers from parasuture 4"/5" to the paracingulum. 6" is unornamentated as also the very small 1""", the paracingular plates and ps. Plate 2""" is unequally divided by a simple rib that continues on 3""", where it joins a long curved septum that is opened against the paracingulum and 4""". This septum is also connected with the parasuture 3"""/1"""". On 4""" a horseshoe-shaped pseudosuture occurs that is opened against the paracingulum and that copies in congruent manner the boundaries of this fourth postcingular paraplate. In a few cases this structure has short sidebranches to pseudosutures 3"""/4""" and 4"""/5""". A curved pseudosuture, that extends from the paracingulum against 4" divides 5""". It is joined with the 1"""" boundary. The pseudosuture on 6n" is situated near the boundary of this sixth postcingular paraplate to the parasulcal area. It extends from the paracingulum to 1"""". The antapical 1"""" is halved by a continuous pseudosutural rib and may bear several other short faint pseudosutural marks.
