Oligosphaeridium suibinense

Oligosphaeridium suibinense Yu Jingxian, 1982

Holotype: Yu Jingxian, 1982, pl.5, fig.7
Age: Valanginian-Hauterivian

Description: Cysts circular to subcircular in outline. Periphragm and endophragm closely appressed. Surface coarsely granulate. No more than 18 processes on complete specimens. One process reflects one paraplate.
Paratabulation is 4", 5-6", 6""", 1p, 1"""". Processes hollow, opening up at ends. Postcingular processes 4""" and 5""" about 36 - 46 µm long and 6 - 7 µm wide at base; ends expand into trumpet shape, 12 - 16 µm wide; sides deeply split to appear dentate. Parasulcal processes short and small. Antapical process 1"""" large, rectangular, 38 - 42 µm long; ends dilated and splitting to appear dentate. Apical archaeopyle. Archeopyle suture uneven.
Size: Cysts 55 - 64µm in diameter.

Comparison: The new species resembles Diphyes with its large antapical processes but is distinguished from the latter by the fact that there are no more than 18 processes and these are hollow and open at the ends. Its large and rectangular antapical processes differentiate it from other species in Oligosphaeridium.
