Membranilarnacia gigantea
Membranilarnacia? gigantea (Tasch in Tasch et al., 1964, p.192, pl.2, fig.13) Eisenack and Kjellström, 1972, p.803.
Originally Membranilarnax, subsequently Membranilarnacia?.
Taxonomic senior synonym: Schizosporis reticulata Cookson and Dettmann, 1959, a zygnematacean zygospore species, according to Pierce (1976, p.27). At the time of the transfer, Eisenack and Kjellstrom, 1971, questionably included this species in Membranilarnacia.
Holotype: Tasch, 1964, pl.2, fig.13
Locus typicus: Clark County, Kansas, U.S.A.
Stratum typicum: Albian
Original diagnosis: Tasch, 1964, p.192: Membranilarnax gigantea
Shell ovate to spherical, bearing numerous sharply defined polygons arranged in a network on body. Processes, brief, uniform, and at their terminations forming a fringe; strongly expressed, bifurcate at ends and joined to form peripheral nembrane. At their bases, any two adjacent processes aupear to be the extended sides of an open polygon.
Dimensions: Length, 110 Ám; width, 90 Ám; fringe, 5-8 Ám wide; inner capsule wall, 2-4 Ám thick.
