Membranilarnax pterospermoides
From Fensome et al., 2019:
Membrailarnax pterosperrnoides Wetzel, 1933b, p.52, pl.6, figs.1–2. Emendation: Sarjeant, 1985b, p.152, as Membranilarnax pterospermoides. Holotype: Wetzel, 1933b, pl.6, fig.2 (not fig.1); Sarjeant, 1985b, pl.6, figs.3–4; Fensome et al., 1995, fig.1 — p.1715. Originally (and now) Membranilarnax, subsequently Membranilarnacia? (combination illegitimate). Wetzel (1933b, p.52) gave the citation for the holotype as his pl.6, fig.1. However, Sarjeant in Lentin and Williams (1989, p.240) noted that the preparation number for the holotype given in the text, the preparation number for pl.6, fig.2 and the preparation marked "holotype: Membranilarnax pterospermoides" are all the same. Age: Late Cretaceous.

Original description [Wetzel, 1933b] (translated from German):
Membranilarnax pterospermoides n. sp.
Plate VI, Figs. 1 and 2.
Type: Prep. 134 (Plate VI, Fig. 1).
Diagnosis: The spherical to ovoid central capsule bears processes of varying thickness, usually forked at the end, resembling Hystrichosphaera furcata. The majority of these are arranged in the equatorial plane, which is indicated by a broad (double-walled?) skin ring (wing lamella?). This "suspension belt" is apparently supported by the numerous (approx. 20) forked spines mentioned.
Color: brownish.
Comparable forms:

? 1903. Trochiscia moebiusii (JOERG.) LEMMERMANN, Nord. Plankton, 21, pp. 19 and 18, Figs. 64 and 65.

? 1911. Plerosperma moebiusi JÖRGENS. LOHMANN, Nord. Plankton, 2, pp. 10 and 9, Fig. 6.
A closer comparison of the flint fossil with the characteristics of Pterosperma PT. (LOHMANN, 1904, pp. 41/42) reveals quite significant differences despite certain similarities. In Membranilarnax ptero-spermoides n. g. n. sp., the equatorial wing ridge is evidently more simply attached to the shell and is not itself wavy. In contrast, it is distinguished by the presence of numerous, distinct supporting spines and not merely by several reinforcing ridges, as PoUCHET (1894, p. 178, cited in LOHMANN) describes for his extant Pterosperma ovatum and Pt. rotundum. These extant According to Lohmann (1911, p. 10), these structures may have been created by folds in the membrane, as evidenced by the frequent radial folds in *Pt. moebiusi* by Jörg, which resemble supporting ribs. Incidentally, Lemmermann (1903, p. 18) interprets his *Trochiscia rotunda* (as well as his *Tr. ovata*) as possible peridinae cysts (specifically of *Dinophysis*?); if this interpretation is confirmed, the identification of the fossils would likely be somewhat simplified.
Dimensions: Largest diameter of the inner shell 45–55 μm, with projections 70–85 μm long, width of the dermal girdle 15–20 μm. Overall thickness 40–70 μm.
In *Pterosperma (Trochiscia) moebiusi*, the shell diameter measures 50–90 μm. μ (or 43 μ), the ring diameter according to Lemmermann is 139 μ.
A few specimens (approx. 6) were found; observed as fossils for the first time.

Original description [Wetzel, 1933b] in German:
Membranilarnax pterospermoides n. sp.
Taf. VI Fig. 1 u. 2.
Typus: Präp. 134 (Taf.
