Millioudodinium sarjeantii ssp. sphaericum
Millioudodinium sarjeantii ssp. sphaericum (Vozzhennikova, 1967) Stover and Evitt, 1978
Now Cribroperidinium sarjeantii ssp. sphaericum. Originally Gonyaulax sarjeantii var. sphaerica, subsequently Gonyaulacysta sarjeantii ssp. sphaerica, thirdly Millioudodinium sarjeantii ssp. sphaericum, fourthly Rhynchodiniopsis sarjeantii ssp. sphaerica, fifthly Cribroperidinium? sarjeantii ssp. sphaericum, sixthly (and now) Cribroperidinium sarjeantii ssp. sphaericum.
Holotype: Vozzhennikova, 1967, pl.28, fig.4; Jan du Chêne et al., 1986, pl.20, fig.9 (lost according to Lentin and Vozzhennikova, 1990)
Lectotype: Vozzhennikova, 1967 (not illustrated) and Lentin and Vozzhennikova, 1990, pl.16, figs.1-2 (designated by Lentin and Vozzhennikova, 1990)
Locus typicus: Moscow region, Russia
Stratum typicum: Tithonian
Original diagnosis: Vozzhennikova, 1967, p.89: Gonyaulax sarjeantii var. sphaerica
Theca oval to broadly pyriform, with a flexible apical horn which is straight or curved in relation to the theca. Edge of the transverse furrow and margin of the apical plates surrounded by a colunmar type of sculpturing or by slender processes of different heights and bifurcate at the ends. The bifurcations at the ends of the processes may join together and subsequently branch to give a finely reticulate structure. This occurs more particularly at the antapical ends where the border is wider.
Dimensions: Holotype: length 98.3 Ám, breadth 75.8 Ám, width of transverse furrow 4.5 Ám. In other specimens: length 94.5-99 Ám, breadth 75.6-83.8 Ám, width of transverse furrow 5.4 Ám.
