Dissiliodinium globulus
Dissiliodinium globulus Drugg, 1978
Taxonomic junior synonym: Dissiliodinium curiosum, according to Leereveld (1997, p.413) - however, Feist-Burkhardt and Monteil (2001, p.64,72) retained Dissiliodinium curiosum.
Holotype: Drugg, 1978, pl. 4, fig. 5
Paratypes: Drugg, 1978, pl. 4, fig. 4, 6
Locus typicus: Falais de la Heve, Normandy, France
Stratum typicum: Early Kimmeridgian
Original description: Drugg, 1978, p. 68
Original diagnosis: Cyst spherical to slightly ovoidal in shape. The wall, or autophragm, is thin and granulate to vaguely spinulose. At times there is an approach to the development of microreticulate pattern but this is neither distinct nor always present. Paratabulation on the hypocyst is lacking except for the paracingulum which is sometimes visble. The archeopyle is formed by the loss of 4 to 5 precingular paraplates. The apical paraplates remain attached to the hypocyst by an isthmus formed by the sulcal tongue and probably paraplate 6"" as well. The latter is not differentiated but the connecting isthmus is broad enough to suggest its presence. The outline of the apical area suggests the presence of 4 apical paraplates although these are not slearly expressed. On some specimens paraplate 1"" is only partially detached. The cyst diameter ranges from 55 to 65 Ám (based on 8 specimens).
