Leptodinium flammeolum
Leptodinium flammeolum Morgan, 1980
Holotype: Morgan, 1980, pl.17, figs.14-17; Jan du Chêne et al., 1986, pl.75, figs.8-9
Locus typicus: DSDP site 258, offshore W Australia
Stratum typicum: Aptian-Albian
Original description: Morgan, 1980, p. 26
Periphragm ambitus elliptical, folded up into parasutural crests, endophragm ambitus elliptical; wall layers closely appressed in intratabular areas, separated beneath inflated parasutural crests; tabulation gonyaulacean; intratabular paraplate areas densely covered with coarse 1-2 Ám granules, except In the paracingulum, where contact areas are psilate parasutural crests 4-6 Ám high 2-3 Ám broad, psilate or faintly granular; often compressed into delicate folds; archeopyle precingular, operculum free.
Affinities:
Morgan, 1980, p. 26: Most other Leptodinium species lack strongly inflated parasutural crests and intratabular contact areas. The intratabular granules are larger than on other Leptodinium species.
