Leptodinium mirabile
Leptodinium mirabile Klement, 1960, p.48–50, pl.6, figs.7–10; text-figs.25–27. Emendation: Sarjeant, 1984a, p.164–166, as Leptodinium mirabile.
Originally (and now) Leptodinium, subsequently Gonyaulacysta.
Dodekova, 1967, transferred this species to Gonyaulacysta Deflandre, 1964. Lentin and Williams, 1973, retained it in Leptodinium.
Holotype: Klement, 1960, pl.6, figs.7-8, text-figs.25-26; Sarjeant, 1984, pl.4, figs.1-2, text- fig.5; Jan du Chene et al., 1986a, pl.67, figs.5-8
Paratypes: Klement, 1960
Locus typicus: Scherstetten I borehole, southwest Germany
Stratum typicum: prob. Bimammatum Zone, Middle Oxfordian
Emended Diagnosis: Sarjeant, 1984, p.165
Cyst proximate, acavate. Ambitus ovoidal. Epitract and hypotract of comparable size, the epitract a broad hemiellipsoid, the hypotract almost hemispheral. Parasutures marked by low crests, entire and non-fenestrate. Paratabulation 2pr, 4", 6", ?5c, 6""", 1p, 1pv, 1"""", 6s. Cingulum of moderate breadth, only slightly laevorotatory, its two ends differing in anteroposterior position only by its breadth. Sulcus extremely short and very broad, confined to the central portion of the ventral surface and separated from the antapex by a large, broad posterior ventral paraplate.
The first preapical paraplate is relatively large and wrapped about, on its right lateral flank, by a larger second preapical. Paraplate 4" is almost square, smaller than the pentagonal 6" with which it shares a broad boundary; that boundary intersects the right boundary of 1" at a position markedly anterior to the latters"s junction with the sulcus. The sulcus is conspicuously divided into six paraplates - a large anterior sulcal and five much smaller paraplates in median situation, themselves of closely similar size. The posterior intercalary paraplate separates the small 1""" and larger 2""" from the antapex and is of comparable size to 1pv. The antapical paraplate is large and inclined toward the ventral surface. Archaeopyle singleplate precingular, Type P (3" only); operculum free or attached.
Dimensions: Holotype (in slightly oblique ventral view); length 81 Ám, breadth 70 Ám, height of crests c. 1.5 Ám. Range of dimensions; length 72-86 Ám, breadth 63-75 Ám.
