Lingulodinium solarum
Lingulodinium solarum (Drugg, 1970) Wall and Dale in Wall et al., 1973
Originally Operculodinium, subsequently (and now) Lingulodinium.
Holotype: Drugg, 1970, fig.16A-C
Locus typicus: Hinds County, Mississippi, USA
Stratum typicum: Oligocene
Original description: Drugg, 1970, p. 819-820: Operculodinium solarum
Spherical chorate cyst with numerous processes and a precingular archeopyle. Tract wall about 1 µm thick. Endophragm seemingly structureless, periphragm finely granulate. The processes are broadly conical, closed proximally and distally, walls thin and finely granulate. The interior area at the base of the processes is more coarsely granulate than the other areas of the tract. Processes are from 14 to 20 µm long and the basal diameter ranges from about 3 to 10 µm. The body diameter ranges from 58 to 75 µm.
