Lithodinia reticulata
Lithodinia "reticulata" (Dodekova, 1975, p.22-23, pl.2, figs.11-13; text-fig.4) Gocht, 1976, p.334.
Holotype: Dodekova, 1975, pl.2, figs.11-12.
NOW Meiourogonyaulax. Originally (and now) Meiourogonyaulax, subsequently Lithodinia.
Age: Late Bathonian.
Original description: Dodekova, 1975, p. 22: Meiourogonyaulax reticulata
Spheroidal to subspheroidal proximate cyst. In all observed specimens the apex is lacking. The cingulum is broad, laevorotatory spiral. Broad sulcus, extending from mid-point on the epitract to the anterior third of the hypotract. Tabulation scheme: ?4", ?a, 6"", 6c, 6""", 1p, 1pv, 1"""". From the arrangement and the interrelation of the plates more remarkable are the larger dimensions of the plate 2""". Typical feature of the species is tbe ornamentation of the periphragm. It is represented by an irregular reticulurn with average dimensions of the meshes 3--5 Ám. The meshes are separated in irregular fashion by fibrous mass -- 2--5 Ám thick, The ornamentation affects the cingulum and in parts the sulcus. Ornamentation lacking in the central part of the sulcus. The sutures are marked by fibrous, perforated septa with finely denticulated distal margins. The archaeopyle is apical, with typical zig-zag contour. By some specimens the accessory archaeopyle sutures reach the cingulum.
Affinities:
Dodekova, 1975, p. 23: Meiourogonyaulax reticulata
Amongst the species, known from the literature, the new species resembles mostly Meiourogonyaulax decapitata (Wetzel) Sarjeant, 1972. It is distinguished by the dimensions and the relations between the postcingular plates 1""" and 2""", the thickness of the wall, the reticulate ornamentation and its generally smaller dimensions.
