Litosphaeridium crassipes
Litosphaeridium? crassipes (Reade, 1839) Davey and Williams, 1969
Now Hystrichokolpoma. Originally Xanthidium, subsequently Hystrichosphaeridium, thirdly Litosphaeridium?, fourthly (and now) Hystrichokolpoma.
Tax. sr. synonym of Pervosphaeridium truncigerum (Deflandre, 1937) Yun, 1981, by implication, according to Yun, 1981, who considered Pervosphaeridium truncigerum to be the sr. synonym. Lentin and Williams, 1985, retained Pervosphaeridium truncigerum as a separate species.
At the time of the transfer, Davey and Williams, 1969, questionably included this species in Litosphaeridium.
Stover and Evitt, 1978, considered this to be a provisionally accepted species of Litosphaeridium.
According to Yun, 1981, the specimen figured in Reade, 1839, pl.9, fig.2, is Pervosphaeridium truncigerum (Deflandre, 1937) Yun, 1981.
Lucas-Clark, 1984, stated that this species is not accepted in Litosphaeridium. She further stated that it is possibly referable to the genus Hystrichokolpoma Klumpp, 1953.
This combination was not validly published in Davey and Williams, 1966, who questionably transferred the species to Litosphaeridium, but did not fully reference the basionym.
Holotype: Reade, 1839, pl.9, fig.2 (lost, according to Lejeune-Carpentier and Sarjeant, 1981)
Neotype: Lejeune-Carpentier, 1941, fig.9; Lejeune-Carpentier and Sarjeant, 1981, pl.3, fig.3, text-fig.6 (designated by Lejeune-Carpentier and Sarjeant, 1981)
Age: Late Cretaceous
