Luxadinium dabendorfense
From Fensome et al., 2019:
Luxadinium? dabendorfense (Alberti, 1961, p.5, pl.3, fig.4) Bujak and Davies, 1983, p.163. Holotype: Alberti, 1961, pl.3, fig.4.
Originally Gymnodinium (Appendix B), subsequently Diconodinium, thirdly (and now) Luxadinium?. Questionable
assignment: Bujak and Davies (1983, p.163). Age: Valanginian.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description: [Alberti, 1961] (translated from German):
Gymnodinium dabendorfense n. sp.
Plate 3, Fig. 4
Holotype: The specimen preserved in preparation no. A1 and shown on Plate 3, Fig. 4.
Type locality: Dabendorf borehole near Berlin.
Type stratum: Valendis.
Diagnosis: Body lemon-shaped, somewhat dorsoventrally flattened. Epi- and hypotheca almost equal in size, each extending into a small, pointed lobe. Transverse groove slightly depressed and narrow. Body membrane smooth.
Additions: In some specimens, an opening resembling an emergence hole was observed on the dorsal side.
Relationships: The present species differs from G. ventriosum n. sp. by its distinct transverse groove, smooth surface, and smaller dimensions
Dimensions of the holotype: Length 84 μ, width 64 μ. In other specimens, the length varies between 76 μ and 84 μ, the width between 60 μ and 64 μ.
Material: Over 30 specimens.
Occurrence: Valendis of the Schünow and Dabendorf boreholes.
