Kallosphaeridium orchiesense

From Fensome et al., 2019:
Kallosphaeridium orchiesense de Coninck, 1975, p.101–102, pl.18, figs.15–17. Emendation: Jan du Chêne et al., 1985a, p.12–13. Holotype: de Coninck, 1975, pl.18, figs.15–17; Jan du Chêne et al., 1985a, pl.3, figs.8–13; text-figs.4A–B. Originally Kallosphaeridium, subsequently ?Kallosphaeridium. Questionable assignment: Wood et al. (2016, p.78–79). Age: Early Eocene (Ypresian).

Original description (DeConinck, 1975):
Kallosphaeridium orchiesense nov.sp. (Pl. 18, fig. 15-17)
Holotype: Orchies at -6.6 m below the surface. Preparation 1; coord. 25.7 - 116.
Diagnosis: The body is more or less globose. Its wall is coarsely granulated and decorated with small, short processes, the granular base of which widens. The processes terminate in a point or a rounded swelling. The archaeopyle is apical and surrounded by 6 precingulate plates, which are recognized only by the presence of slits in the wall. The series of 6 precingulate plates is interrupted by a narrow ventral plate to which the operculum remains attached.
Body dimensions: approximately 60 µm. Process height: approximately 2 to 3 µm.
Total span: approximately 65 µm.

The emended description below is based on a restudy of the holotype and on the original description (DE CONINCK, 1976a, p. 101-102). It differs from the original description by indicating that:
1. the wall is two-layered,
2. the ornamentation is punctoreticulate and clavate,
3. processes per se are lacking and
4. the archeopyle is type [4AI] @ or [SA] @ .

Emended Description: Jan de Chene 1985a, p. 12-13
Subspherical proximate cysts with a thin (about 0.5 Ám), homogeneous, untextured endophragm and a thicker (about 15 Ám), appressed periphragm periphragm has a loosely fibrous appearance and externally is puntoreticulate and bears numerous clavate projections (pl. 3, fig. 12 - 13). The clavae are approximately 2-3 Ám in height and have slightly swollen, rounded tips. Paratabulation is expressed solely by the principal and accessory archeopyle sutures which indicate an epicystal paratabulation of 4", la, 6" or 5", 6". In the precingular series, 2" is four-sided, whereas paraplates 1", 3"-6" are five-sided. Indications of hypocystal paratabulation, a paracingulum and a parasulcus are lacking. Archeopyle types [4AI]@ or [5A]@, isthmus narrow; operculum small relative to cyst diameter; OW/CD ratio = 0.33 to 0.37. Constituent paraplates not delineated on opercular surface. Cyst diameter between 45 and 65 Ám; 7 specimens measured.
