Kleithriasphaeridium suevicum n. sp., Pl.4, fig.1-5, Pl.11, fig.1-3, text-fig.23
Diagnosis: A species of the genus Kleithriasphaeridium with broad short funnel-shaped intratabular processes and flange-like cingular processes.
Description: The cyst is subspherical with one intratabular process per paraplate. The surface between the processes is corrugate to striate. The proximal parts of the processes are thickened and striate at the bases, whilst the rest is smooth.
Process formula: 4", 6"", 6c, 5""", 1p, 1"""", sulcal processes.
Archaeopyle: Precingular (P).
Intratabular processes: smooth, hollow, distally widened in a funnel-like way, with slightly incised edges. The hypocystal processes are longer and have a larger diameter than the epicystals.
Cingular processes: broad flange-like processes with lemniscate proximal parts. Distal margins incised.
Sulcal processes: small, funnel-shaped or flange-like.
Dimensions: length 76 µm, width 74 µm.
Affinities: Kleithriasphaeridium suevicum differs from Kleithriasphaeridium porosispinum Davey 1982 in the flange-like cingular processes. Kleithriasphaeridium truncatum (Benson 1976) Stover and Evitt 1978 from the Upper Cretaceous also has funnel-shaped intratabular processes and flange-like cingular processes, but they are longer and slightly slimmer.
