Dapsilidinium stelacum

Dapsilidinium stelacum Islam, 1983

Holotype: Islam, 1983, pl.1, fig.7
Paratype: Islam, 1983
Locus typicus: Isle of Sheppey, SE England
Stratum typicum: Early Eocene

Original diagnosis: Islam, 1983, p.236
Thc cyst is subspherical, skolochorate, and biphragmal; endophragm reticulate,
periphragm psilate and chagrinate; possesses many generally nontabular cylindrical processes some of which may slightly taper or broaden outwardly. show some variation in Iength and breadth in the same specimen, proximally closed, distally open with entire or finely indented margins; archeopyle is apical type tA, generally indistinguishable.
Dimensions: Holotype: cyst body 37x37 µm length of processes 10-16 µm, breadth of processes 4-51 µm. Range: cyst length 42(34)29 µm, breadth 42(34)28 µm, length of processes 8-16 µm, breadth of processes 3-5 µm. Specimens measured 7.

Affinities:
Islam, 1983, p.236: It differs from other species of the genus in process morphology. D. warrenii (Habib) resembling this species possesses more numerous processes. Some forms possessing fewer and partially grouped processes indicated a possible paratabulation of 3", 5-6", 6c, 5-6""", 0-1p, 1"""", each paraplate bearing 2-3 processes. Their distribution is thus intratabular. The matter is subject to further observations and confirmation.
