Originally Hystrichosphaeridium, subsequently Baltisphaeridium, thirdly Cleistosphaeridium.
Tax. jr. synonym of Lingulodinium machaerophorum (Deflandre and Cookson, 1955) Wall, 1967, according to Wall, 1967.
This combination was not validly published in Davey et al., 1966, since these authors did not fully reference the basionym.
