Dioxya tenera
Dioxya tenera (Krutzsch, 1962) Morgan, 1977
Now Geiselodinium. Originally Deflandrea?, subsequently Vozzhennikovia, thirdly Dioxya, fourthly (and now) Geiselodinium.
Lentin and Williams, 1981, retained this species in Geiselodinium Krutzsch, 1962.
Holotype: Krutzsch, 1962, pl.11, figs.20-22
Age: Middle Eocene
Original diagnosis: Krutzsch, 1962, p. 44-45
A delicately walled Deflandrea species with only weakly developed horns, which hardly show in the more or less circular outline.
Transverse furrow broad, clear. Longitudinal furrow narrow, less distinct than transverse furrow. Shell closely appressed to central body. Central body almost smooth, shell set with irregular small putules. No archaeopyle identifiable. Wrinkles rare. No tabulation.
Size: 50-55 Ám. Central body but slightly smaller (1 specimen).
Affinities: Krutzsch, 1962, p. 45: D. tenera differs from other Deflandrea species in the circular outline, the closely appressed shell, and the poorly developed horns.
